Alvaro Villa, Co-Founder and CEO of TIG/mFounded in 2005, TIG/m focuses on the design of electric vehicle systems for commercial developments. The company strives to enhance the environments through providing transit services with sustainable energy designs.

Through using the most advanced hybrid, electric technology, TIG/m Modern Street Railways builds robust, heritage styled streetcars which require steel rails but no overhead power lines. The firm provides full infrastructure design and construction administration for their products, including: civil engineering of track alignments, track and turnout design, and maintenance facility design.

With numerous clients around the U.S. and internationally, TIG/m strengthens the City of Los Angeles export economy. Currently, the company just finished the first true plug-in serial hybrid steel wheeled Trolley Vehicles in Puerto los Cabos, Mexico and trolley systems in a mixed-use developments in San Antonio, Texas and Indio, California. 

TIG/m became a MBDA Center- Los Angeles client in 2010. Our Business Specialists have worked with TIG/m to secure financing and procurement opportunities nationwide and globally. Recognizing TIG/m’s contributions to the local economy, our center honored as the company as the Green Firm of the Year at the 2011 Annual Minority Business Awards & Conference.

With support of Mayor Villaraigosa’s office on a bid with Mshereib Properties’ Heart of Doha project in Qatar, the firm received a $500,000 commitment for a letter of credit for an advanced payment bond. On March 2012, our Business Specialists helped TIG/m secure a $1.4 million contract from the Government of Aruba. This created and retained jobs for the City of Los Angeles, and is allowing the firm to triple the size of the company headquarters and manufacturing facility.
